iijima keita

In the novel and manga, Boy #2 Keita Iijima is a loner and a former friend of Shinji Mimura. Their friendship ended when Keita refused to help Shinji fight off a street gang, leading to a falling out.

Later, when Keita tries to join Yutaka Seto and Shinji, Shinji points a gun at him and orders him to leave. In an attempt to scare Keita away, Shinji fires the gun but accidentally kills him. This tragic event sets off a series of events that ultimately leads to the failure of Mimura's plan.

In the film adaptation, Iijima remains friends with Mimura and travels with him and Yutaka. However, in the end, Kazuo Kiriyama kills both Iijima and Yutaka.
