Keine is half human, half beast. She has the ability to conceal or erase histories, as well as create them. The first two abilities are associated with her human form, while the last one belongs to her beast form, known as Ex-Keine. Typically, she remains in her human form, which is considered her "true form." During the full moon, she transforms into a hakutaku, at which time she gains omniscience about all information. When the full moon wanes, she experiences slight nausea.
A steadfast ally of humans, Keine protects them from the numerous youkai in Gensokyo. There is no aspect of Gensokyo's history that she does not know.
