Katsumi is the daughter of Gigelf Liqueur, a magician who attempted to open a gateway to the alternate world known as Nemesis. His experiment failed, leading to the infiltration of Earth by the Lucifer Hawk race from Nemesis. Katsumi discovers she has inherited her father's magical abilities and wields the sentient sword Grospoliner, once used by him, to combat these beings. Upon realizing her powers, she joins the AMP, a specialized division of the Tokyo police force.
Though naturally gentle, Katsumi can also be fierce and may not hesitate before diving into battle. She carries the blood of a Lucifer Hawk, which could be seen as both a gift and a burden, though she struggles with this aspect of her heritage.
Due to her past experiences, Katsumi finds it challenging to let people into her life. When she first joins the AMP, she tends to keep to herself. However, she soon starts to bond with her colleagues. At a party attended by members of the regular police force, she meets Roy, who becomes her boyfriend shortly thereafter.
