ishiki kasumi

She is the main character, and the story primarily unfolds from her perspective. She is infected with the Medusa virus. Her twin sister, Shizuku, who also had the virus, was not selected for cryosleep.

A significant part of the manga explores Kasumi's struggle with feelings of abandoning Shizuku, despite it being Shizuku who encouraged her to go. Brief flashbacks to Kasumi's life before awakening in the treatment center suggest that she dealt with self-esteem issues and felt frustrated by her inability to match her sister's confidence and popularity.

Kasumi has a crush on Marco, which is noticeable enough for Katherine to caution her. Katherine warns Kasumi that while it's natural to like Marco, she "mustn't fall for anyone" if they can't trust her in return.
