Jeanne D'Arc is a historical figure that symbolizes the French faction. She appears only in "Nightmare of Nunnally" as a minor antagonist. She first appears in a flashback shown by C.C. to Suzaku. Joan of Arc emerges during C.C.'s memory of the Hundred Years' War between the Kingdom of France and England (the precursor to the Holy Empire of Britannia). Inside a church marked with a Geass sigil, she and her soldiers are slaughtering everyone while declaring herself protected by God's grace. Joan of Arc is also responsible for giving C.C. the scar on her left side and for killing innocent children, labeling C.C. as a witch. Though not depicted, it is implied that she burned at the stake and used her last moments to curse C.C., granting her immortality. Unlike her real-world counterpart, this version of Joan of Arc does not hesitate to kill innocents and commits sacrilegious acts inside a church, earning her the title "Witch of Orléans". The crowd watching her execution cheered for her death. Even as she burned alive, she cursed and laughed maniacally at C.C., declaring that C.C. would become the new witch.
