In a special picture drama included in the DVD release, it is mentioned that her grandfather and Nina's grandfather collaborated on the Io and Ganymede Knightmare Frames. The assassination of Empress Marianne resulted in the stripping of the family's nobility status. To restore this status, the Ashfords arrange for Milly to marry Earl Lloyd Asplund. After the events of the first season, Milly remains a student on campus because she intentionally failed her examinations to stay with her friends. Eventually, she earns enough credits to graduate and becomes a weather forecaster on local TV news. She also ends her engagement with Lloyd.
