Girl #5 Izumi Kanai is a student. In the novel, Izumi is part of a group of girls referred to as "the neutrals," who do not stand out particularly. Her father is a town representative, and she is described as being "preppy."

In both the novel and the Japanese manga, Izumi is present in the area where the "Kiriyama Family" gathers. Kiriyama, uncertain whether to fight the teacher or kill everyone, flips a coin to make his decision, ultimately choosing to kill them all. In the novel, Izumi is simply in the vicinity during this event. However, in the English version of the manga, Ryuuhei and Hiroshi capture Izumi and bring her to be raped.
