Age: 16-17 Height: 178 cm (5' 10") Occupation: Student (grade 11), Vice Commander Itsuki is the last member to join the SOS Brigade, recruited by Haruhi as a "mysterious transfer student." Itsuki was dispatched to observe and stabilize Haruhi emotionally, protecting humanity. Despite being an esper, which Haruhi seeks, he never reveals this to her. Itsuki always smiles and speaks formally and politely. He often gives detailed explanations with exaggerated gestures. He admits his outward persona is artificial, tailored to Haruhi's perception, hinting at a less pleasant true self. Maintaining this facade is crucial for Haruhi's emotional balance. Among the three Brigade members, Kyon likes Itsuki the least. Kyon finds Itsuki's constant smile annoying, along with his acquiescence to Haruhi's schemes, teasing, and philosophical discussions. Kyon also distrusts Itsuki's intentions, finding him as hard to read as Yuki Nagato. Despite this, Itsuki shares theories only with Kyon and enjoys board games with him, possibly losing on purpose. Regarding Haruhi as God is one of many speculations within "The Agency." Itsuki doesn't believe in a singular God or see Haruhi as such, though some colleagues do. His questions about Haruhi's nature are philosophical and don't reflect personal beliefs. The Agency generally advocates observing Haruhi without provocation. In the Disappearance arc, the altered Koizumi expresses a crush on Haruhi, suggesting real Koizumi might feel similarly if not for Kyon. In the Astonishment arc, Koizumi is revealed as the Agency's leader and founder. He shows more of his true personality when threatening war against aliens and time travelers for meddling. He seems especially wary of the time travelers, particularly Asahina (Adult).
