Ms. Toriumi serves as the homeroom teacher for Class 2-F in Persona 3. She teaches language to the junior class at Gekkoukan High School. Ms. Toriumi is an avid player of the old MMORPG, Innocent Sin Online. The protagonist can establish a Social Link with her after receiving a copy of the game from Junpei Iori. Within the game, Toriumi, using the handle Maya (a nod to Maya Amano), persuades the protagonist to adopt the handle Tatsuya (referencing Tatsuya Suou). "Maya" and "Tatsuya" discuss Toriumi's workplace grievances, leading to her developing a crush on the protagonist. When the game's administration announces the server shutdown, she plans to send their chat logs to prevent the closure. Ms. Toriumi has a relaxed teaching style and frequently clashes with Mr. Ekoda. She has a strong fondness for cake, even requesting a student to bake one for an assignment. Her colleagues know that offering her cake can improve her mood during discussions. Despite her love for most cakes, she dislikes Mont Blanc. After work, Ms. Toriumi occasionally plays Mahjong with Mrs. Terauchi. In the epilogue of the Social Link, the Protagonist visits the Facility Office where he finds Ms. Toriumi. After accidentally dropping his cell phone, which now displays a background image of Maya's message in the sand to Tatsuya, Ms. Toriumi picks it up and is visibly shocked. Despite her age, she acknowledges her feelings for the Main Character and tentatively invites him to dinner. However, she leaves the office in anger. Her arcana is the Hermit.
