Born in 3045 AD, Ion Fortuna, the Earl of Memphis and the Empress's Swords Keeper, is considered quite young among Methuselah. As the grandson of Mirka Fortuna, he feels immense pride for both his race and the Empire. Tasked by the Empress to serve as an Imperial envoy and messenger, Ion was sent to negotiate with the Vatican. Upon reaching the Vatican embassy in Carthage, where Caterina resided, a fire broke out, leading Vatican agents to suspect his involvement. He narrowly escaped Father Tres' gunfire but suffered an injury from a silver bullet. Abel and Esther made contact with Ion and Radu, assisting their escape through underground tunnels beneath the city.
Discovering that Radu had betrayed him to the Rosenkreuz Orden left Ion heartbroken, yet he found solace in his friendship with Esther. Initially harboring strong prejudices against Terrans, Ion's perspective began to shift significantly after getting to know Esther. It seemed he fell in love with her, though he kept his feelings concealed. Through the betrayal by the Order, Ion's thirst for vengeance grew, ultimately joining Abel in his mission to dismantle them.
