Honoka met Yamato during an incident at her family's shrine when they were children, as he frequently visited while staying with his aunt. Since then, Honoka developed a crush on him but was too shy to speak up. To her surprise, Yamato enrolled in her high school and even ended up in her class. Seeing this as an opportunity, she started talking to him, and they became friends. When Yamato joined the track team, Honoka decided to become the manager to ensure they stayed close.
After some time, Honoka confessed her feelings to Yamato, and they began dating. However, their relationship only lasted for less than a month due to Yamato's carelessness and Honoka's insecurities. Realizing her mistake, she resolved to confess again once she gained more confidence.
Upon learning that Yamato and Suzuka were dating, Honoka decided to quit her role as the track manager and accepted an offer from a modeling agency run by her best friend, Nana. After a modeling shoot, she unexpectedly ran into Yamato again, who had just broken up with Suzuka. Despite still having feelings for him, she had grown more confident as a model and could now talk to him openly. At the beach, she surprised Yamato by suggesting they become a couple again. Shocked, Yamato mistakenly took it as a joke. This incident led her to stop waiting for Yamato and start dating a coworker who had confessed to her. To be fair to her new boyfriend, she decided it wasn't a good idea for them to hang out together anymore.
