Hanamasa is the lead vocalist for the visual kei band House Dust. He harbors uncertainties about his role in the band because its lyrics and image do not resonate with his genuine emotions. Hanamasa bears a striking resemblance to Asuka, to such an extent that they could easily be mistaken for twins.

Hanamasa is the younger sibling of Joji, who fronts the hard rock band Freak Bones as its lead vocalist. The brothers once collaborated as the acoustic pop duo Fra Fra, during which Hanamasa was responsible for singing until his voice underwent a deepening transformation.
