Hanamaru is the frontman for the hard rock band Freak Bones, performing under the stage name "Joji." He holds the belief that rockabilly surpasses visual kei and often looks down on the members of House Dust, criticizing their image and music. Unbeknownst to many, he has a sensitive side and tends to cry secretly.

Hanamaru is the younger sibling of Hanamasa, who is the lead singer of House Dust. In the past, the two brothers formed an acoustic pop duo named Fra Fra. During this time, Hanamaru was responsible for writing the lyrics and melodies, as well as playing the guitar.
