gargantua

Gargantua appears in episode two of the anime as a deranged figure, accompanied by three incompetent demonic henchmen and a servant named Seiren (inspired by the Hellenic Siren). His primary objective is to locate Eve, who is portrayed as Jill, a mute magic user and assistant caretaker at the orphanage. Gargantua has a strong attachment to Jill and, in a fit of jealousy, accidentally stabs her fatally with a knife while trying to remove Ritsuko, a fellow orphan, from Jill's embrace. Jill's body vanishes in an explosion of souma, drenching the two children in her life force. In the game, both Gargantua and the main character seek to acquire more fragments of Eve. For a period, Gargantua takes control of Joe Harry and commands the "hunters" (small, one-eyed creatures resembling hats). By the end of the anime, thanks to Eve and Tamamonomae, Gargantua undergoes a change of heart and returns to the realm Lilith granted him for sacrificing Princess Mariel, taking Ritsuko with him.
