The older of the Tanner brothers, he is a man of aristocratic Prussian heritage. Though not a Qwaser himself, he possesses strange powers akin to sorcery. These abilities allow him to create numerous seals and incantations that enable him to assume others' identities, hypnotize and compel people to do his bidding, or summon and teleport others at will using tarot cards. Nicknamed the "Double-Headed Crest Maker," he is an international terrorist greatly feared across Europe. He believes the current state of the continent to be deplorable and uses terror to destabilize the European Community, aiming to lead it to collapse and revive the Holy Roman Empire with Germany at its helm.
He sought the Theotokos to achieve this end, manipulating both Athos and the Adepts as mere pawns in a game he orchestrated from the shadows. Eventually, he appeared to personally conclude the scheme, first disguising himself as a teacher at St. Mihailov, and then attempting to unseal the sanctuary where the Theotokos was hidden. Using Mafuyu and a crest-infused Hana, he aimed to reunite the two halves of Sword's Maria. Although he nearly succeeded, he was ultimately defeated and killed when Sasha, Ekaterina, and Tasuku combined their efforts to stop him. He has blonde hair.
