Francine Doll is an intricate automaton crafted by her creator, Bai Jin, following the demise of his first and deeply cherished love, the real Francine. In a relentless effort to evoke a smile from her, Bai Jin designed numerous automatons inspired by clowns and jesters, all with the singular aim of making her laugh. These included the Les Quatre Pioneers and the ZONAPHA Syndrome.
Despite his efforts, Francine remained unmoved, leading Bai Jin to abandon her. Undeterred, she embarked on creating other automatons and established the Midnight Circus in pursuit of her master's dream of making her laugh. Over time, Francine no longer wished to be the Automata Queen. Consequently, she fabricated an exact duplicate to assume her role and set off on a journey around the world, hoping to discover the final missing gear needed to complete herself.
