A member of the bounty hunting crew in the anime series Cowboy Bebop. Faye is often seen with a cigarette and dressed in a revealing outfit that includes bright yellow hot pants, a matching top, black suspenders, white boots, and a long-sleeved red shirt. Her signature look is completed with a headband. She has violet hair styled in a bob, green eyes, fair skin, and a voluptuous figure. Despite her youthful appearance, Faye is actually over 74 years old, having been cryogenically frozen after a space shuttle accident. In the series, set in 2071, she encounters Spike and Jet twice before officially joining their ship, much to their initial disapproval. Both men have reservations about women, which adds to the tension.
Faye's personality is brash, egotistical, and lazy, though she takes great care of her appearance. She has been arrested multiple times during the series and spends considerable time in handcuffs on the ship. She expects the others to handle bounties while she relaxes and eats their food, leading to further conflict.
Despite her apparent laziness, Faye is a valuable team member. She can punch hard, as shown in "Cowboy Funk," and excels at flying. Her skills are demonstrated when she holds her own against Spike in aerial dogfights using her ship, Red Tail. She is also adept with guns, first seen disabling a ship with an MP5 and later using a Glock 30. Her sharp tongue and relentless attitude make her formidable, even if she rarely appears weak or in need of support.
Beneath her tough exterior lies a more fragile interior. After waking from her 54-year cryogenic sleep, she found herself burdened with debt and diagnosed with total amnesia. The surname "Valentine" was given to her by the doctor who revived her; her past remains a mystery. It is hinted that she came from a wealthy family in Singapore, but this information is uncertain. Betrayed by someone she trusted, Faye became hardened and cynical, believing that trusting others only leads to deception and harm.
Throughout the series, Faye retains her sarcastic demeanor but gradually learns to value her comrades. She returns to the Bebop, recognizing it as her true home, and comes to understand the disadvantages of being alone. Even though her "family" is dysfunctional, it is still where she belongs.
