Danna-san, known as "Boss" in the English translation, was the leader of the Cross Guard who defeated the Chess Pieces in a war six years before Ginta's arrival in Mar Heaven. Despite coming from the same world as Ginta, he deeply loved Mar Heaven and was more than willing to fight to protect it. He ultimately died in battle against Phantom, the immortal military leader of the Chess Pieces.
It is later revealed that Danna-san was actually Ginta's father, who had disappeared six years earlier. It turns out that he behaved very similarly to Ginta, which leads many people to have high expectations of him.
