kawachi daikichi

Daikichi is a 30-year-old bachelor who tends to scare away women and children. While he isn't particularly bothered by frightening children, as he doesn't have a great fondness for young people, he appears to feel lonely as a single man. At his grandfather's funeral, he encounters Rin, a newly orphaned illegitimate child. Angered by his relatives' cold treatment of the girl, Daikichi announces that he will take responsibility for her care. Now cast in the role of a father, Daikichi must adapt his life to accommodate his new role. Daikichi lacks much motivation beyond getting through each workday. Following his grandfather's death, he feels compassion for the unwanted child left behind and decides to take her in. As a bachelor with no experience in childcare, he has much to learn to properly care for Rin. However, his laid-back personality and honest efforts to provide what she needs allow him to grow into his role. His patient, awkward, gentle, and straightforward nature complements Rin's shy wit perfectly. Though constantly learning as a new parent, it's impossible not to love him for every mistake he makes.
