He is notably stubborn and has a fear of "shaky" transportation, particularly boats, fearing he might fall off. Initially, Battler comes across as hotheaded, cocky, and somewhat perverted, as evidenced by his attempts to grope young women, including his cousin Jessica on several occasions. However, beneath this exterior, Battler has a kind heart that he shows when necessary. Battler is an extremely rational individual with exceptional talent for deductive reasoning and unconventional thinking, described as "flipping the chessboard" to predict his opponents' moves and motives. Disturbed by how quickly everything unfolded, Battler rebelled against his father, cutting ties with the Ushiromiya family and living with his maternal grandparents for six years. After his grandparents passed away, he returned to his old home. His relatives held no grudge against Battler for running away, except for Kinzo; in fact, Battler was able to quickly rekindle his old relationships. However, mentioning his rebellion remains a taboo due to fear of Kinzo's reaction. The incident six years ago also caused another tragedy. Six years prior, Battler promised Shannon he would take her away from the island and save her. However, due to his falling out, he never returned, leaving Shannon to live in hope of something that would never come. This incident caused the pain of the Shannon personality to transfer deep into Yasu's heart, leading to the birth of the witch Beatrice. Ironically, despite his disbelief in magic and witches, Battler possesses strong magical powers. He can generate a barrier offering great resistance to anything magical, contributing significantly to his denial. As such, he serves as a natural enemy to Beatrice and other witches, who draw power from believers. Battler's resistance is tested by Beatrice, who challenges his logic with countless scenarios that seem unexplainable by human means, hoping to make him accept her existence. Despite nearing a breaking point many times, Battler manages to regain his composure and strengthen his magical defenses, making his barrier nearly indestructible. After Beatrice's death in the fifth game, Battler is banished from the Game Board for failing to counter Erika's theory on the culprit's identity. In this state, Battler finally solves the mysteries of Rokkenjima and reaches the center of all truths. He returns to the Game Board immediately after, and with the help of Beatrice's furniture, successfully forms his own theory and destroys Erika's. Battler is then named the "Endless & Golden Sorcerer" by Lambdadelta, gaining all of Beatrice's power and becoming the Game Master for the sixth game against Bernkastel. His weapon of choice during debates is a golden longsword that allows him to weave with red and strike with blue. His knowledge of the truth even lets him wield a third sword, known as the golden truth. In EP8's "Magic End," it turns out that Battler survived the explosion at Rokkenjima in 1986 but lost his memory due to certain circumstances.
