A high school student who consistently struggles with her tests despite being very intelligent. She attends Nishidate High School, commonly known as Nishikō, which is a shortened form of the word for high school, "kōtōgakkō" or "kōkō." After her friendship with Shii-chan ended at the end of middle school, she finds it challenging to fit into high school life and starts self-harming. She lives in company housing with her single, middle-class mother and her younger sister, Akane.
When Katsumi Sako begins to threaten her, Ayumu decides to tell both the entire school and her mother about what he is doing. However, she is completely ignored and treated as though she is lying.
