Sakino is a tomboy with a passion for soccer. One day during practice, she calls out Kazuki Aihara for not giving his all. Kazuki realizes that he indeed was halfhearted and begins to excel as a defender in games. This transformation makes Sakino start to develop feelings for him. However, as Kazuki becomes more invested in soccer, he also starts showing interest in another girl, Eriko Futami, which causes him to become distracted. When Sakino discovers that Futami and Kazuki were conducting experiments to understand why people fall in love, she confronts Futami and makes her stop the experiments. As a result, Kazuki starts to lose focus on soccer. Sakino arranges a meeting at a park with Kazuki and invites Futami to resolve their issues, but her plan backfires. Later, Kazuki attempts to reconnect with Futami by practicing romantic lines outside her apartment while she watches through the video receiver. This moment helps them both realize they have feelings for each other. One morning, Sakino sees Futami and Kazuki walking to school together and realizes she made a mistake by bringing them back together. She lost the boy she had fallen in love with.
