Age: 19–20
Akito is the head of the Souma clan and is very frail, often suffering from fevers. Rarely leaving the main house, Akito only ventures out to greet some Zodiac members like Yuki and Shigure who live outside. Known for a mean streak, Akito has inflicted both physical and emotional scars on many Souma family members. However, Akito's rule over the Souma clan is absolute, and no one dares to oppose him.
A part of Akito's curse is believed to limit his lifespan to thirty years. At a certain point in the Zodiac's life, Akito wishes to confine them within the Souma compound for the rest of their lives in an endless "banquet." He even refers to himself as the "Master of their (the Zodiac) Souls."
Akito harbors a deep hatred towards Kyou Souma, the Cat, believing that he should be isolated for life. Akito despises Tooru the most, as she is loved and protected by everyone.
The manga later reveals that Akito is actually female, which explains much of her anger towards Tooru. In "Fruits Basket: The Last Story" commemorative voice comic, Akito is voiced by Minagawa Junko.
