Kazuya's older sister, and the same age as her cousin Kyōsuke. She has a rather tomboyish personality, and both Komatsu and Hatta find her intimidating. Akane possesses "The Power" which allows her to create illusions that people can see. So far, she has only been observed using this power to make herself appear as different individuals; it remains unknown if she can generate other forms of illusions. These illusions seem to be both auditory and visual. In the manga, this power affects only the person it is directed at, suggesting it might be a blend of telepathy and hypnosis—elements of "The Power" demonstrated by other Kasuga family members. In the anime, she uses this ability on both Hatta and Komatsu simultaneously. In the manga, Akane develops a crush on Madoka, even going so far as to give Kyosuke a hickey while dreaming about Madoka. This leads to numerous situations where she creates an illusion of herself as Kyosuke to explore their feelings for each other. Most of these scenarios end unfavorably for her but surprisingly positively for Kyosuke. In the anime, Akane has the same powers as Kyōsuke and the twins in addition to her illusion power. It is not indicated whether this is true in the manga. Akane's appearance varies significantly between the manga and anime. In the manga, she resembles a mix between Kurumi and Manami. In the anime, her hair is shorter and darker, her face more angular, and she has violet eyes. Akane appears in only two of the OVAs, where she shows a strong infatuation with Madoka, and never in the TV series. She appears much more frequently in the manga, almost becoming a regular character.
