Aika is a young student at Seinagi Private High School, where she trains to become a mage. One of her distinctive characteristics is her ability to laugh heartily at almost anything, which always comes out loud and uninhibited. Her father works at the same school as a magic instructor. Aika possesses a naturally kind and forgiving nature, making it difficult for her to hold grudges or refuse forgiveness, no matter what someone has done to her. Additionally, she tends to be quite clumsy, which often complicates her attempts to cast spells correctly.
Having attended all-girl schools during her elementary and junior high years, this is Aika's first experience with co-educational schooling. She lost her mother at a very young age and thus has no memory of her; her dream upon graduating is to see her mom again, even though such magic would require extraordinary power. Initially, Taiga rubbed her the wrong way, but over time, she came to view him as a friend and seems to have developed romantic feelings for him.
