Love at first sight. Read 18 volumes in about 5 days. I don't think I've even enjoyed another manga (or a book) like I've enjoyed this one. The art is just beautiful. I'm surprised Inoue's ability/gift/dexterity to use a brush; reminds me of old Japanese manuscripts the way the brush strokes are made. There's no specific part (art, story, characters, etc...) that this story shines. Every point is its strong point. Argh, I'm going to far...

...this was amazing though. Great first chapter.

Welp, I finally decided to start this series and so far, it has my attention with the violence and main character. I hope we learn a lot more about Musashi as I find him to be an interesting character already based on first impressions.

had some free time .. decided to re-read this masterpiece

crazy how much lore this first chapter has .. but no spoilers ;)

Musashi really out here killing people with rocks , sticks , and trees ... these were his savage days indeed

this may be the most bearable Matahachi all story .. for those who've read you know he becomes pretty shit from this point on ...

time to enjoy another Inoue classic !!

Great first chapter. Can't believe the same guy that blessed us with Slam Dunk wrote this bloody manga.

Art was great as always, Inoue is a fuckin genius.

Officially starting the reread again. I think it's been about 3 years since I first read this amazing story. A lot has changed. Due to the nature of time I've forgotten a fair bit of plot devices but I will always remember being enthralled by this incredible work. I've since read a couple decent and lauded works of manga, and with this reread I hope to gain an even better understanding and overall appreciation for the artwork, story, and motifs I can apply to my personal life even more than that very first time. Maybe this wont be the last time I pop up on this chapter 1 post with another reread comment, but to whoever reads this, have fun, enjoy the process, and take as many meaningful messages you can from this masterpiece.

The art is really incredible, I'm regretting picking up this only now.

I will also give a chance to Inoue's others work.

It's not bad, I guess I have to read more to get the idea better.

Finished Blade of the Immortal a couple of days ago, and Slam Dunk before that. This seems to be a perfect follow-up!
