Oh childhood trauma. It's such a curse. But it has helped Musashi become stronger. He just needs to separate his feelings of wanting to prove himself and not beating himself up for acknowledging the other things he cares about. Him finally accepting that he wants to live so he can eventually pursue a life with Otsu is about as fine a character development for him that it might be that push he needs to beat Inshun!
