I didn't know a new anime was in the works but thats exciting. The box collection is in great condition, its the 35th Anniversary Box Set. It comes with all 6 volumes and an art collection book. Its a bit pricey but I thought it was worth it.The problem is that the new adaptation is being produced by Sunrise that have a huge Gundam bias. They put many project in limbo for new Gundam installment. Taking 5 year to help produce Pluto manga's adaptation and now it will be likely that next year they will release the new Akira. Or even worst started production after they completed Pluto even though they announced it back in 2019. 

correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Sunrise the studio that made Cowboy Bebop.

Mystery in the Manga around Akira and the other test subject is more interesting. The movie got me thinking they were just tool to some grand plan around Akira but they play a bigger part.

[I am reading the Darkhorse version of Akira which turn 120 chapters into 38 parts. That is why I know how many chapters I completed but don't know what chapter ended where especially since the sequence of event have been changed to meet the new format.]



The relationship that develop between the doctor and Tetsuo over their curiosity about Akira; I my opinion was well written. Doctor have been working for years and failed to get the desire result but with Tetsuo's abilities he have given hope for quicker result. So, Tetsuo who is a bit impatient and rowdy got along with him well.
