Now we understand why Kagome was able to purify the fragment that was with the painter. And Kikyou is probably quite corrupted at this point. Not much relevant happens in this chapter; I think the main points are the speculations they start to make about Naraku's role and his relationship with Kikyou. As I expected, Kagome ended up suspecting InuYasha's actions, wondering if he did it to keep the Shikon Jewel. However, she is almost irrelevant in this chapter anyway. This story of Onigumo is very interesting, the author Takashi knows how to conduct the narrative very well and instigate the readers' curiosity. I think Onigumo (despite his name being "Oni") has nothing to do with Naraku and that he is not truly evil.
