I was thinking that maybe he slipped him a King's jewel when he was little after all he did gain access to that place when he was little.

Wasn't it because of his brother's jewel that was lent to him?

Okay… That's freaking awesome.

Flashback time and apparently the day Hayate met the "Santa" (remember, it influenced his life and made him the dependable workaholic he is) is actually the same day the Katsura sisters were abandoned (no need to tell me it influenced their lives, though apparently in Hinagiku's case it actually didn't and that's why she sucks as a character) and the reason was ― of course ― the King's Jewels' power.

Makes you wonder how Nagi's mother got inside the Castle when she doesn't seem like she ever despaired at all and we've even seen her humming happily inside.

And YES, Wataru is definitely going to play some part in this. He has it pretty harsh right now and one of the Jewels is with him… I wonder if the Isumi-purified Jewels lose the power to open the way?

Also… Athena is not in the Castle yet… Mikaido, I swear, if it was you who imprisoned her there, I will… freakin… crown you the most horrible villain. Who also happens to be incredibly pathetic and comic-reliefy. How do you even do that?

I actually didn't realise this was a flashback until I saw kid Hinagiku

+1 XD...I was doubting esp since I thought Loli A-tan is the current A-tan but it was the real loli A-tan ^^;

(Though there's no way anyone can find a person with more misfortune than Hayate XD)

Really enjoyed this chap XD Sad loli Hina is too much for my heart >.<

Lol'd so friggin much at his reaction to Hayate's misfortune..."He's perfect" hahahaha

The first half of the chapter was obviously trying to make the readers laugh because the latter half made me cry.

Seeing kid Hina and sad Hayate is just... I c-can't, I just can't.

If he released this chapter on Christmas Eve, I would've drowned myself in my own tears.

"He's perfect!" lol.

That was quite an interesting chapter. Especially noteworthy is that it seems Athena wasn't stuck in the Royal Garden yet. It should be interesting if this flashback starts explaining things.

EDIT: The better explanation for the King Jewel's ability to get into the Royal Garden only strengthens my theory that Wataru's King Jewel is going to be into play soon as he currently fits the requirements quite well. And there's a good possibility he and Hisui know each other.

this is confusing me.....so basically athena was working with nagi's grandfather ten years ago to open the gates to the garden and then they passed on a king stone to hayate.... after which hayate met athena but at that time she was in the royal garden, and called herself the goddess, or something. after this when hayate left and gave that king stone to his brother. his brother helped athena get out of the royal garden and she said she was trapped in due to some curse. after that, when a-tan woke up the gates were closed again, probable because of nagi's mother.

and then when we have them meeting after ten years, athena is not willing to go in the garden again but the spirit is forcing her to. also, hayate's brother is missing ever since that incident.

and now we hav a-tan as a kid again with her mission unknown..

(do correct me if i was wrong somewhere)

what is confusing here is that just how to open the gates to the royal garden.... first what athena says is an explosion of negative emotions by a person having king stone and later she said that in order to get in the garden, you had to acquire one

also, i do feel that things will connect to himegami.... for he was somehow in this mission as well(athena once mentioned),.

moreover, why to drag ruka in all this when she has no connection with either nagi's family or hayate. .... mayabe due to her negative emotions i guess

agree with you there ....though i feel that nagi's mother may have known about all this and not just she went in by chance........... there were some carving in nagi's house at mykonos and she might have come across those... maybe.

as for isumi, it should mean that king jewel with aika and the one nagi broke should not have the same power as others.(what isumi said was that she had lifted the curse..though)

The flashback got me too..

So that's how Hayate meet santa...

Weird way to activate the Jewel.

So Athena was working with Mikado even back then. I wonder how she ended up at the castle... Also Hinagiku was so cute, buying a present for her terrible parents. And it looks like Yukiji was obsessed with money, even back then.

It's fate!

On another funnier note, he really does look like santa with that hat on.
