I do not like the fact that the mech turned into an angel, but it makes sense in the grand scheme of things

Because it makes it so Shinji will have the fight it as the last line of defense. Dramatic plotting and whatnot. And that Angel/Eva combo destroys everything.

Yeah I agree. Right from the selection of Toji as a pilot, everything is literally moving towards a final battle between Shinji and the Eva/Angel with Toji in it. Plenty of convenience in this arc as a whole.

So, Eva Unit 03 is on the loose. Unfortunately, perhaps due to the pilots hesitation, 00 and 02 were taken out. Now it's just Shinji.



That cover for the next chapter is pretty harrowing.

Just realizing that he anime adaptation just cut off a tons of comedy moments between Assuka & baka-Shinji Y-Y
