Neon Genesis Evangelion Chapter 29 Discussion

Liked the 'Its bitter, but it's warm' part. Rei and Shinji's relationship is pretty much like that at this point in the manga. Not completely free of doubts, but warm nonetheless. Some bit of foreshadowing from Gendo, possibly about the Instrumentality Project. I don't like Gendo, but I felt it was a bit sad about his opinion on humankind as a whole.

                        More ShinjixRei here this chapter. Very cute, with her trying to make him tea (and over-killing the amount of tea leaves needed) But she had a pretty good idea for Shinji to try and tell his dad how he feels. Of course, Gendo don't care. (never liked him at all)



And a different scene this time around during the graveyard part. I remember the feeling at the end being more positive in the anime. But Gendo flat out told Shinji to stay the heck away from him.

Really good chapter, Rei encouraging Shinji to air out his problems with Gendo. Shinji meeting Gendo at Yui's gave was probably one of my favorite moments. Gendo really hinted at his in his "people can never understand one another. Never completely, never enough" speech. Great moment, I just hope it doesn't negatively influence Shinji. Whether he likes it or not his father's words definitely mean a lot to him. So, I'm concerned.

this characterization makes Gendo look more like a dick, but also more like a bitch. ruins the whole tough guy persona.
