After failing to stop the 7th angel, Shinji and Asuka are forced to live together for the next five days. In the anime Asuka moved into Misato's apartment with them, but that sadly doesn't seem to be the case here.

It pains me to see Gendo disregarding Shinji so much

                        I wonder what would happen if they just keep dropping N2 bombs on the angels.  They have already vaporized the surrounding area so they won’t cause any more damage, and it looks like even the angels couldn’t survive a continued bombing from such powerful weapons.

Because that would be too easy. And both cores have to be destroyed simultaneously. Shinji and Asuka having to live together is going to be fun to watch.

Seeing Asuka and Shinji in the same room together...
