Here it was part of the plan for Asuka to attack first, with Shinji providing cover fire instead of her going on her own like in the manga. I think I prefer the manga's way of doing this.

Mostly an angel battle this chapter. I believed they skipped the angel embryo in the volcano episode. But this angel was more interesting anyway. Did not expect it to just split in half like that, but I didn't think Asuka would 1-hit kill it anyway.
