Denei Shoujo Chapter 100 Discussion

Crap, I got sidetracked... forgot to make this thread. HAHA!

Anyway, here's my reaction to short-haired Moemi:



Well... LOL, that was almost unexpected... almost. Truth be told, as I looked at the volume covers a few days ago, I was so baffled as to who the girl on volume 12 might be. I thought, "Maybe it's Nobuko," but she looked far more mature than Nobuko's cute appearance. Then it came into my mind: "What if it's Moemi?" But her hair wasn't brown like it was on the other covers. So for a long time I just assumed it would be another woman that will be introduced later. Until last volume, when I thought... it was probably Ai's "human" form!?

But now, the unexpected comes out: it WAS Moemi, after all!!? And I guess mangaka Katsura just can't decide on Moemi's hair color?

(But... what if it isn't Moemi, still? Wouldn't that be crazy!)



Well, I suppose that, since I brushed off the idea of it being Moemi rather quickly, maybe I can't say it was only "almost" unexpected, after all; Moemi's descent into obsessively imitating Ai actually did throw me totally off guard!!



Still, I wonder, if you were to compare how Moemi looks here with how the short-haired girl looked in Yota's last dream, if they would actually match up? Perhaps, it's just a coincidence that Moemi looks similar, but in actuality, there are subtle differences, and the short-haired girl in the dream isn't Moemi, after all?

Well... we're gonna have to wait and see!



Anyways: Moemi has become totally psychotic, bordering on yandere (or something along those lines), hasn't she!
Not that I'm any better, having wrote this totally nutty and way-too-long thread OP HAHAHA And she needs a better barber, because that hairstyle is NOT Ai's hairstyle! Even disregarding the signature swirls in Ai's hair, Ai has longer hair than that. When Ai was living in the tent and was all wet and dirty, you could see her hair without the swirls, and it was still way more feminine than Moemi's new pixie cut.



Also, I wonder: was Nobuko's initial haircut a way to look more like Ai? At first, it was still longer than a pixie cut, and it was quite cute, but then she immediately cuts it again the next chapter to be even shorter than Ai's, like how Moemi did here. I can't remember though, had Nobuko even met or grown jealous of Ai, at that point? Perhaps it was totally coincidental?

Either way, I don't think Nobuko went to quite these lengths to imitate Ai, like Moemi has and has admitted to doing even before this haircut...



One last thing I want to add: if we are to take this all at face value, and assume the mysterious short-haired girl in the dream IS Moemi, after all... then Yota's dream is about Yota rejecting the old Moemi, all for the new boyish "Ai-like" Moemi? That just seems weird... There's no way that was the mangaka's intent ever since chapter 1. Right??



Well, enough time-wasting... time to read the next chapter...
