"what has been done to make the system work in real life" implies that A) communism cannot work as intended by Marx, and B) any of those attempts have been more than shams by people using Marx's beliefs to mislead their people.

Are you really sure either of those things are true?

And, wait, no, don't answer that. This is getting political.

In fact, I am locking this thread. I don't know whether the author of Dungeon Defense is a communist - I certainly know China purports itself to be, and thus it isn't strange for citizens of the country to identify with their government.  I also know one quote does not make you a communist. More than either of these things, I know with an abiding certainty that NUF is not the place for political discussion.

you can believe in communist ideals and still live in a capitalist society. You don't have the subscribe to the ideal of the country.

It's like how you can be a Muslim in Israel, or Jew in Pakistan... although that sounds super hard and you'll probably be persecuted terribly.

Or, take the US for example, you can be an authoritarian piece of shit and still be the president of a representative democracy.

It really isn't. A king is a VERY specific type of ruler. To start with, a King is a hereditary position. Then, if you look at history, a king/emperor usually had their very existences justified by the concept of divine right. From Europe to China and Japan, the thaumaturgy of monarchs was very prevalent, especially during the absolutist periods.

The problem is that you got stuck in the middle of irony and actually explaining the point, so it ended up as a bad joke to those who didn't get it.
