This is the best of the 4 books in the series, in my opinion. The MLs in the first and third book trended toward unlikable, and the second was good but just not quite as excellent as this one. It's a joy to watch two incredibly clever leads dancing around each other, one-upping each other, and finally working together.

It isn't as good after the two are married, as the best bits are when the two are more or less equal in freedom, and this author definitely tends to have a leaning toward the "married women are subordinate" view. Fortunately they get married pretty late into the story.
