I read the comment that mentioned having to turn your brain off to read this novel, and they were not wrong. You read this for the fluff and cute animals. This is by no means a bad novel, it's just that I found myself having to look past a lot of plot holes and things that didn't make sense. One big example would be when Spoiler
ML was injured and mistaken for a common panther, then taken to an underground trade market and placed with the non-intelligent big cats.
[collapse] You'd think that with a civilisation so advanced, they'd have ways to tell apart a panther beastman and an ordinary panther. I don't know, maybe their DNA or something, since there's no way the two are the same. And MC happening upon him the one day the two of them were there did make me sigh. The coincidence really felt forced. The more I read, the more I had to stop thinking. The overarching plot felt off. Like they threw in a big villain with a cringe name and abilities that honestly didn't make sense with the setting.ML's personality felt like it went through some weird changes, too. He trusted MC way too fast, and he started to genuinely romantically like MC too quickly as well, though I guess that occurs often in danmei novels. And regarding the TL quality-- it's alright, but there is indeed several problems. Mainly some inconsistences. First off, ML is a panther, not a leopard. The TL calls him the latter at first before switching over to the former after his appearance is described. Then it continuously switches between the two each chapter. The names of different characters, including the MC, also frequently change, as do different words. It's mainly a consistency thing. Sometimes they're in pinyin, sometimes the TLer uses the English words. It's not a big deal though, just a bit annoying.I stopped reading at chapter 51. I'll probably finish reading when it's all been TLed. Usually I'd just MTL, but this novel didn't really feel worth the extra effort.
