If You Devour Poison Chapter 32 Discussion

Dropped it. I was going to read it as a past time and thus not having any expectations, but even that kind of low hope is crushed by this novel. I think it's such a shame since the premise of it is really nice.

The characters are 2D. They feel rushed and not alive at all. Just standing there for the sake of it. Not only that, the "cunning" MC and his sidekick are potrayed as that only because the rest of the cast are more incompetent than them (I really feel like the rest of the cast are just a yes man, there's no tension or satisfaction whatsoever from seeing MC doing his plan which I thought are supposed to be the heart of this kind of novels).

The story itself is rushed. I can tell only by reading a couple chapters that author just really want to get to the romance as soon as possible, which again, is a shame because I think there's a lot more that they could dig just based on the world around it. Not only that, the romance itself is illogical. Instead of romance, I feel like I'm just seeing a bunch of kindergarteners pointing at other kids while saying they want to marry them. It is absurd.

Not recommended, even as a past time. The translator's great, I learn a lot from their translation, unfortunately the downfall is the novel itself.
