Gunnm Chapter 29 Discussion

That was quite the intense battle, albeit a bit short. I thought Zapan would maybe evolve or something would happen that would cause this fight to last a few more chapters. For being only two chapters, it ended well, so hopefully this time will truly be the last of Zapan. I guess the last and main villain Alita will face is Desty Nova. Desty and his crew are traveling elsewhere, far from the scrapyard as he talks about Alita's battle and reviving Ido to help with his plans.

Zapan picks up Alita and is about to attack her while she is confused as to why the collapser formula didn't work. As Zapan begins his attack, his arm swells up and explodes. The formula did indeed work, it just took a few seconds to have an affect. Alita breaks free and stabs him in the throat. Zapan tries to fly off with Alita holding on for dear life. Zapan is unwilling to go down without taking Alita with him, so he pierces her body and tries to absorb it. Alita decides to drink the formula in a mad attempt to kill Zapan. It ends up working and Alita falls to the Earth. As this happens, she sees a memory of Zapan waking up from a bad dream where he explains to Sarah that in his dream he kills her accidentally and goes on a rampage. Basically his dream was a prophecy of what indeed happened. Alita begins to cry as she sees the little budded plant that she had previously seeded. Nice way to end this little arc.

Zapan went out as peacefully as a guy like him possibly could...

honestly was not expecting this arc and the fight to conclude so fast, thought there'd be a few more chapters atleast before it'd be over. they were hyping him up to be so strong that even zalem forces might come down to stop him, but then this fairly quick fight was the end to it. not that disappointed though, that ending panel was so fucking kino. i got so scared for a sec at the end when it cut back to zapan waking up one time because i thought it was gonna be revealed as zapan's dream the whole time.



so glad that didn't happen lol. peak fiction.

                        What an intense fight and conclusion to this arc. I hope that's the last we've seen of him.
