im assuming that in the following chapters they will run into more of alitas friends and nova (probably)

                        So this flashback was from that far back? I'm curious if the whole point of this side story is making AR-4 into a replacement of Alita for Figure and Ido resulting in her having no reason to go back to Earth (in other words tying up loose end because they will not be used anymore in the story) or is this setting the stage for something else.
