For me, the biggest hook of this novel are the interactions. Every sentences are one with meaning and the POV takes time to guide you in what is happening. I guess it appears deep to me since I've never really been exposed to conversations beyond shallow small talk. It explores the concept of double meaning and subtlety in everyday talk very well, or at least that's how it seems to an idiot like me.Another aspect I love about this novel is Cyril's complete devotion to Sophia. Almost every single action he takes are for her and her alone. Although sadly he still doesn't realize just how extremely infatuated she is with him. It's funny how he is so committed to her happiness when he can just do things that will make her the happiest girl in the world. I understand his aversion to putting Sophia in situations that will undermine her status and authority but damn just f*ck already lol this extremely long foreplay is making me hot and botheredOkay the real reason I like this novel is Sophia's love and jealousy. I'm so lonely god
