I honestly loved this novel and our MC+ML. Translator is doing a great job, especially with how often the author liked to quote classics.

The biggest selling points were the MC, ML, respect they had for each other. No r*pey ML. No small delicate MC that can only cry. They are also a s*x positive couple so that is sooooo nice to see in the BL genre. Both of them were well developed and hilariously sharp witted.

Most of the novel is exploring their relationship with each other with some acting, novel writing, and face slapping sprinkled through out. There’s a good amount of fluff if that’s what you want.

Side characters are spotty. Some of them are well developed and interesting (ML’s bro) and some get introduced and you forget them exist until they are mentioned again for the purposes of plot (entertainment ceo). Author is also not afraid to drop side characters to the void.

I have gripes. The first is the length. It is loooong. I found that a good cut off point was chapter 134. The villain is taken care of and the ML appreciates his car. There are still some hanging threads but not too many. I had difficulties caring too much after that.

Second gripe is the MC family and adopted bro. That whole situation used a bunch of tropes I am not personally in love with (upstart family, switched children, adopted child is secretly EVIL). It felt classist. It’s common in BL so I’m not mad, just disappointed.

Overall, well worth reading and very entertaining!
