In short, this novel is basically anime Hogwarts but with dark mages. The problems I had with the novel were:-gary stu protagonist with the typical romantically-dense MC syndrome-ridiculous power scaling-many side characters having cliche anime character tropes (one of MCs companions is the typical obnoxious pe*vert) -brain-dead antagonists who find petty reasons to cause trouble and make MC look better-contrived tear-jerker tragedies that happen for the MC to conveniently solveWhat kept me reading this far was that the characters do have good moments, the plot has a good share of interesting plot developments, and that I really like some of the characters. But man, these last chapters I read is a beach mini-arc where some dense guy hits on one of the major female side-characters and the MC steps in to white-knight. Reading that brain-rot made me realize what was bugging me while reading this. I can't go on despite strongly liking other aspects of this novel.
