This is the sort of novel that works best if you don't think too hard. The plot is pretty laid back, the main character is pretty spineless, and the gag characters can really get on your nerves if you try to view the novel from the same lens as a more serious novel. However, it does a good job of mediating that with a rapidly developing plot, so if you keep giving it a chance it'll keep giving back. It's a pretty light read, and the TL does a great job.
