It started out really promising with an interesting magic system, combined with a science/engineer student, so I hoped he will combine the the two and make some amazing things with it.... well that was my first disappointment. He doesn't experiment or try to improve actively at all sadly. There are 1-2 occasions where he is forced to invent something new otherwise he would die, but even those are rather mediocore inventions. Also the fact that he went on a big adventure without knowing any kind of decent self defense (be it magic or at least a dagger) is beyond me. And as said before it's never adressed as a problem so he never even tries to improve this.Speaking of characters, the MC is too passive for my taste, he supposed to go north to learn new magic yet he is constantly swept away to participate in the disputes of local nobles, which are mostly boring because of the uninteresting characters involved. There are two potenial harem members as of now, one is 3/4 of the time immature, childish and annoying but for some reason 2 sentences later suddenly sophisticated and smart as if she had 2 personalities in 1 body. The other one is kind of interesting but has too little screen time and instead of her we have a ton of info and interactions with generic side characters who we will never ever see again after 2-3 chapters (I actually started skipping the conversations with them, because there add absolutely nothing to the story).Fights are also boring because of the passive MC, he basically just uses one magic, which shrouds an area in darkness and thats it and knowing how much potential he has its such a waste. On the other hand I kind of start to doubt that this magic system could even be good, because to use magic they have to persuade the wind, earth... etc (which are sentient beings, like spirits) to do what they want and when two wizards are trying to convinvce the same spirit to do what they want it's just degradec the fights to childish bickerings with words and it very lame.To summarize it up, it started as a promising adventure with interesting magic system but it slowed down heavily to a kind of slice of life style, which genre I really dislike, so if you like drama, action and dislike slice of life then you should probably avoid it.
