Sadly, this novel does not live up to its potential. Decent idea, different take on cultivation than typical novels, and some decent side characters. Sadly, the novel is being dragged down by the fact that it heavily focuses on the MC, who is the worst character in the story. MC experiences endless regressions, and while I like that he does not treat those around him like NPCs due to that, instead he makes everything very, very difficult for himself. He gets stronger in every regression, but instead of seeing all this as a marathon, and making sure to enjoy life a little, see the world etc., he instead trains 24/7 until he dies of old age (at like 80), and then blames everything and the heavens. He is bitter, but by the end of every regression, he finds new hope and will and promises to do better, only for him to regress to his old mentality halfway through the next regression and start all over again.

The author made the fatal mistake of writing a novel where only 1 thing can progress, the MC, only for the author to not have the MC progress at all - 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

There is also a lot of rambling going on, both during fights and cultivation.

The best character, the sword genius Kim, sadly isn't the main focus of the story.

Read if you like pity p*rno

Good translation though
