I really liked the characters and interesting dynamics between them. The story is very good and I wouldn't say the plot itself is too heavy, but rather the author's descriptions which make you emotional. I don't like romance stories with the emperor because they usually involve competitive family members, strained relationships, struggle with harem, and a lot of politics. But this story didn't start off with ML as the emperor so I gave it a try.

I like how the author paced the plot so that we can see how the relationship is developed, without feeling too rushed or too boring. It was a good balance of fluff, angst, and plot.

I did get a bit bored at a few times but the plot picked up and it became interesting again. But I do wish the author wrote about Xiao Cheng. Like it is hinted that he is still alive, but we don't know what finally happened. Also I wanted to know about the secret behind Xu Junyuan. Like why he helped the ML, and did he actually know the original plot. The extras were very cute though and it's nice to see Shen Huaishi more active and considering MC as a friend.
