I mean... The story itself is pretty fun (it’s more of an Adventure tale than an Action one), but the translations & the lengths of each chapter (being short) are a detriment to the series. The translations aren’t abysmal, but they only maintain the flow of the story at around a 60% consistency, I’d say. Lots of the comedic phrases get thrown under the bus, so then the main appeal falls onto your imagination & what you can make out about the Adventure. The romance aspect isn’t terrible & I’m impressed that such a cookie-cutter Setting bothered to flesh out its female cast - ya know, they’re usually just tropes and stereotypes with predictable responses, outcomes, behaviours, etc, so it’s nice to feel like the females are at least at the level of ‘boring human beings’ (compared to inanimate neon dolls), and who knows, I see potential for them to have some decent depth as this story expands. There’s nothing original here whatsoever, but if you’re like me & you’re “overly familiar” with this genre, then you’re probably here to experience something that you already know that you’re going to like—and from that viewpoint, you’ll definitely not be disappointed with this title. It’s like arranging a collage with images you already really like, except you want to see it arranged in a creative & refreshing way that’ll tickle that certain ‘craving’. Although I’m yet to see the part with any “Yandere”s, it’s explicitly spelt-out how this story is going to develop—and I’ve gotta admit: besides ‘Running Away from the Hero’ (Ms Mental Bat & Co.), there’s few stories that manage to pull off this Setup without absolutely butchering it or copy/pasting straight from a Garbage Simulator or algorithmic computer-generated story... The only ones that exist are either A) excessively edgy & absolutely geared at young teen male fantasies, or B) so utterly uninspired & inane that a collection of Dugongs, high on DMT, arranging word-bubbles sourced from a kindergarten’s [English-Second-Language] quizzes could legitimately create “whamen” (not to be confused with the conceivably-existing organism ‘Women’) with more personality than 90% of the existing tales in this genre. So yeah: when there’s more of this translated (or if you feel like going with MTL - cos there’s probably not enough of a difference to be fussy here), give this a shot if the above comments resonate with you at all. It’s Junkfood-level substance, but that’s why we read this stuff, right? It hits all the right notes for something with little expectations - just as its integrity deigned, after all. If you rightfully didn’t expect much when you clicked onto this story, then you’ll be thoroughly satisfied with that expectation.Enjoy!
