I was debating between giving 2-3 stars. The story is not great but also not terrible. I persisted until chapter 59, which is more than half the novel, because of all the great reviews here. I was disappointed. So far there has been zero honest conversation between the MC and ML and the few they had are still based on misunderstandings.Chemistry between MC and ML: none From the MC’s memories, while they were in high school, it shows the ML interested in the MC. However, the MC never liked the ML not even now? This is what I consider the first major flaw of the story.Plot: interesting take on the ABO world but lacks creativity over major events such as the big misunderstanding that started it all and how randomly the ML finds out the truth.Spoiler and rant:Spoiler
the MC leaves his diary at his old apartment when he decides to leave ML. However, said diary was supposed to be so important to him (he has been carrying for seven years) and just left it like that? A diary is not something big nor heavy to take so in my opinion it felt like the author ran out of ideas here
[collapse]Just like another commenter mentioned here, I found the MC’s mother the most interesting character in this whole novel. She’s a Beta and does whatever she needs to do to survive in a world where their kind is looked down upon. Some may say she was a bad mom to MC but I disagree. She didn’t abandon MC and although he suffered in the prestigious school, it was also an opportunity for him to learn from the best.Overall, I gave up because I think there are so many better novels that I would rather spend my time on.
